Meet Our Team

Chief Instructor:  J. Verge

Our chief instructor has been actively training in martial arts for over 20 years, learning under some of the top fighters in their disciplines. Early in his journey, he tested his skills in combat competition, earning victories that reinforced his commitment to continuous improvement. Over the years, he has refined his expertise and developed a deep understanding of both combat strategy and instruction, continuously pushing himself to grow as both a martial artist and mentor.

With experience mentoring and instructing beginners through seasoned black belts, he has cultivated a teaching style that is approachable, disciplined, and rooted in practical application. Recognizing the importance of genuine self-defense training, he founded Truro PKJ to share his knowledge and empower others to feel confident and safe in their environments.

Assistant Instructor:  G. Delano

Our assistant instructor first took up training as a means to protect those more vulnerable. He has since explored multiple avenues and is passionate about refining his defensive abilities. His dedication and perseverance led him to achieve the rank of 1st kyu, accumulating extensive experience working with students at various skill levels.

With a focus on mentorship and guidance, he takes pride in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for newer practitioners. His patience, approachability, and keen ability to break down techniques ensure that every student feels encouraged and empowered in their journey.

Club Manager:  J.D. Verge

Our club manager first took up martial arts in her teens as a form of protection, later expanding her training through years of women’s self-defense programs. Since helping found Truro PKJ, she has remained an active member, continuing to develop her skills in the friendly, team-like training environment. She believes that everyone should have the ability to protect themselves and others, and strives to contribute to a space where members feel empowered in their growth.

Beyond her own training, she works tirelessly behind the scenes, handling the essential logistics that keep the club running smoothly and ensuring that every member has access to the best possible training experience. Her contributions, alongside the instructors, make Truro PKJ a truly collaborative effort built on dedication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to martial arts and self-defense.
